12squared twin blankets!

We've had a number of babies born in our group over the past three years that are wrapped in some of our beautiful quilts, I'm sure!
However, when one of our fearless leaders announced she was having twins, we thought we should get together and do something!
My Mom and I found a simple and lovely square (c/o Red Pepper Quilts: Liberty Nine Patch) that we thought everyone would have scraps for and contacted three years worth of quilters.  Thanks so much to all who contributed! We just got word that Becca received the quilts and loved them! Success!! (and we expect a follow up post with Charlotte and Tess on their 12squared blankets!)

We asked for colorful, Becca-like squares and we got the perfect variety!

We backed each quilt with Bonnie and Camille's Sundae prints, which we knew she liked!
I wanted to do a neat graphic with everyone's names printed over the top of this picture but I'll list the squares' owners below instead.
L to R: Kristin, Camie, Camie, Rachel, Robyn

Can't nobody hold me down

Yes. That's right. 2 squares in one day. Can you tell the holidays are over? I must say: the tired mama in me didn't like how long this square took but the perfectionist in me absolutely loves the precision and how perfect the back looks. I'll definitely be trying this again as well. Thanks for the fun, peeps. Next year is the year of rotating quilting and knitting for me. Thanks again. It's been fabulous!

With 2 days to spare...

I finished! Love this square, teriney. I am definitely saving this idea for future use. Hope you like it. Now to tackle Shari's...

Love the windmill

This square was so fun and I love how they all look. Great pattern choice, kristin. Hope you like it!

My humble work

Well, I actually finished rachel's square fairly early this month because I also volunteered to make a mini quilt to go on the guest book table at my little sister's wedding reception on 8 october. So I wanted to give myself a bit of time to sew the top, make my sandwich, stitch in the ditch, you know, all those things that you all are pros at but which I have, never done. My mil is going to help me bind it but otherwise it's done. These 2 little projects don't even compare to all kristin has been doing, but it's a start.
And the back even looks like a real quilt. :)

The silver lining

The only good thing about the newark airport closing today due to thunderstorms and my baby-free relaxing flight being canceled is I was able to finish my square!

Wanted: Someone Who Will Volunteer to Press My Seams

Is it just me or does anyone else wish pressing seams wasn't a necessary part of quilting? I loathe it. In the MTC I used to watch my companion in awe as she pressed her shirts to perfection. Mine, on the other hand, might have looked better before I tried pressing them.

But Emily: Thanks for switching months with me and for choosing a fun and pretty easy square which made it possible for me to finish both the June and July squares. Can't wait to see how these all look together.

Better late than never, right Becca?

I took a trip to visit my sister in North Carolina and found an absolutely fabulous quilting store. Makes me want to pack up and move there; yes, it was that good. I found a yellow piece that finally helped me finish my square (oh, and I also got a 28-day course of antibiotics that helped me get out of bed and actually be able to move :). So Becca, it's on its way!

My web

To jen,
Well, here she is. This is definitely the thickest thing I've ever sewn; I think my machine needs a new needle now. But I actually really enjoyed this square. Enjoy!

P.S. Sorry my pics are always ghetto phone pics.

Jennie's square

Here you go. Had fun embroidering even though it looks like a child's handwriting. The embroidery hoop took me back to like 4th grade. :)

Thank goodness

Thank goodness my March square went much more smoothly than my poor little elephant. Thanks, Amy.

January: Emilee's attempt

Well, I don't know if this is awesome or ugly since I'm a quilting novice, but I definitely learned a few things along the way. #1 being make sure you cut your squares the same diagonal direction if you want it to work out...
