Amy c's books are overdue!

I told Amy I really wanted to finish her block! I hope it fits well with her quilt! I have always wanted to make a book quilt!

Tiny hearts

I am pretty embarrassed at how far behind I have gotten, but I'm trying to catch up and finish!! In the mail tomorrow and hopefully in time! I really thought I could handle doing this and having a baby. Then I also moved!

Finishing it up...from 2013!!!

A dear friend is moving and I hope she snuggles this blanket in her new home in Washington. I hope someday it snuggles her baby. Thank you, my friends for helping me make it!

I stitched on the diagonal to quilt it and it went so quickly!

With such a colorful top, I could choose anything to back and bind it so I went with something that reminded me of her.

I love how it turned out. Just in time!

Summer Snowballs

I am indebted to Teriney for helping me with this square for Kristin! I found plenty of grey but could find no mustard and she saved the day!

This is another quilt I cannot wait to see finished! I imagine all these grays and yellows will form awesome patterns that we can't see yet!

Scrappy cabin

This was a fun square! I'm catching up!! I have to admit that some of the instructions didn't seem to quite match the picture. I would get confused whether it was supposed to be 1.5 or two. Oh and the dark orange is orange, not red!

This will be a fun quilt!

Paper Piecing Paralysis (PPP)

I am convinced this is a real diagnosis. The last time I was this behind we were working on shari's paper piecing square. Apparently I have issues with paper piecing.

Mom and I  thought we were being so smart to do this together, however the result was we ran out of mom's fabric. That was the first time we discovered our colors were slightly different!!!! So I had half a square that I couldn't finish and had to start over. We sent back the pieces I had made with my square and the fabric in case you want to make another out of that color scheme, Nicole. It's halfway done! 😉

I could blame the whole thing i pregnant brain and newborn brain but I apologize for getting so behind. 

I also want to thank you sweet friends for helping to make this darling blanket for my new babe! It's beautiful and it is our special work blanket where she rests and plays when she goes to work with me! I love it and I am so touched that you took the time to do this!!

Modern cross is in the mail!

I have embarrassingly had one of these finished for a bit and just finally finished the other and took pics but they are signed, sealed and in the mail!! I hope you enjoy them and I am sorry that they are so tardy!!

I did do a bit of sewing over Christmas. I may or may not have assisted Santa in refurbishing these American girl doll trundles that were handed down to us and just needed new pillows and quilts. My girls LOVE them and are constantly having sleepovers now!

My goal for tonight is to finally put beccas triangles in an envelope with a stamp because it's time to face it that the "I'll give them to her the next time I see her" plan is really failing miserably!! So sorry! 

Thanksgiving stars, triangles, corners and scraps, oh my!

I have been feeling so guilty about my procrastination and so I reserved today to catch up and I did!!

I did Cami's September scraps before September even ended. Wahoo! What a cute fun square! I hope you enjoy it Cami!

I used two favorites from my own flag quilt from last year for Teriney's missing corners and sol even approved the fabri choices!

I hope Becca's triangles fit in the group. What a fun quilt this will be!

And the biggest source of guilt went to this lovely. I am so very sorry that it is so late. And I promise the oranges are more orange-y in person.

I spy a snail in the grass!

I had a lot of fun with this block- I love color!!

So- if you can't tell, those are giraffe heads on the top row. I didn't intentionally make it this way but when I was taking the pictures I noticed it. The giraffes kinda look like they're the ones spying :)

March of the Scrappy Hedgerow

It's here!  Sorry to be so tardy! Meet the Scrappy Hedgerow!

My sweet mother made me a quilt for my birthday and it has become a favorite couch snuggling quilt.  However I have TWO girls.  So I would like this quilt for my girls.  It starts with a fussy cut in the center.  I would like it to be like an "I spy" quilt. For example, my square has a big item, a cupcake that fills the square.  But it could totally be a medium print, for example one filled with bicycles, that would become a bicycle square.  Please try and keep with the color scheme (red, pink, peachy-orangey-yellowy, minty-olivey-greeny, and aqua).

It's basically a modified log cabin.  Start with a 4.5"x 4.5" fussy cut.

Then we add a border, with four different fabrics, but from one color family.  If you need scraps, please let me know.   I started with peach. You can go in any order you would like. There are four borders, but my palette includes five colors, so have fun and be creative! My square shown doesn't have a pink border. I chose to use red to emphasize the red frosting on my cupcake. 

The measurements for the first border, going clockwise, are (starting from the right side-sorry my photo isn't oriented correctly!)

1)1.5"x4.5"

2)1.5"x 5.5"

3)1.5"x5.5"

4)1.5"x 6.5"

This is the overall diagram that my lovely mother helped me with when I couldn't do my math correctly!

As you attach the borders, press seams outward.

For the next border, going clockwise, (starting at the top this time :) the measurements are:

5)1.5"x6.5"

6)1.5"x7.5"

7)1.5"x7.5"

8)1.5"x8.5"

Press each seam again outward as you attach them. 

For the next border, going clockwise, starting at the top again, the measurements are:

9)1.5"x8.5"

10)1.5"x9.5"

11)1.5"x9.5"

12)1.5"x10.5"

For the final border, going clockwise, the measurements, from the top are:

13)1.5"x10.5"

14)1.5"x11.5"

15)1.5"x11.5"

16)1.5"x12.5"

Press all seams out and you're done!  Please don't trim the squares at the end. I will take care of that.

Joan Harris dresses

I can't help but think of these lovely dresses as anything but perfect for an episode of Mad Men! So hopefully Joan would love what I designed! 

Mom, i am so embarrassed at how late these are. I ran out of green thread but more alarmingly, I've been a little low on sewing mojo! I hope they fit with your lovely quilt!! Love you!!

June: Scrappy Trip Around the World, Here We Come!

Hi friends!

I've been eyeing this design for a while! So we are going to do the scrappy trip around the world block using the Quiltville tutorial, here.

You can follow the link or my instructions below. It will make a 12x12 square.

Start by cutting six 2.5" x 16.5" strips.  Please make one of the strips kona white (bottom strip in the picture)

Choose fabrics that will have nice contrast between lights and darks and stick with smaller patterns like below. Ask if you have any questions choosing fabrics!

 Sew your strips together, starting with the white and making sure the last fabric contrasts well with the white.

 Press seams every other direction.

Sew your six strips in half, creating a tube.

Square up one of your ends.  Cut the strips into 2.5" strips to create six tubes.  

 Use your seam ripper to open your tubes, staring with the seam next to the white, placing the white in the bottom.  Open each tube in succession to create a pattern like below. 

 Sew strips together. 

 Press flat and your done! It came together quickly and I think it will be so fun together!!
