excuses and apologies

I have to first apologize to Becca...I haven't sent your square to you yet! I'm SORRY. it is coming. and then I never posted my January squares...I'm a little nervous to do it since this is my first quilting thing ever.

Here are January's squares.

I haven't been sewing anything lately but this is what I have been up to:

These were for a stake relief society conference...250 sugar cookies to be made into cookie bouquets

and we moved into our house in February and the next day my husband took down a wall (not the smartest planning, but now that it is almost done I'm really glad he did it.) and started revamping our living room....
before
welcome to our living room.... ugh
 almost done....
and I finish the last part of the room today :) wahoo!

I'm having fun and LOVE seeing everyones finished products and what else everyone has been making. thanks!

tardy petals

so sorry they're late. i can't believe how rusty i felt sitting down at my machine. it felt good though, so familiar.

like an old friend.

and, going through my fabric stash was pure heaven.

there are so many memories wrapped up in my stash of scraps and yardage. i thought that was interesting, and, if possible, made me love sewing and fabric even more.
anyway.
hope the colors are okay. i'll drop them in the post today!

When you said January...

...you meant February, right?

I spent a lot of January organizing and organizing and organizing our spare room in the hopes of sitting in an idyllic little nook in my house and sewing my squares while whole wheat bread baked in the next room and my children quietly played with wooden toys all around me.

It ended up that I spent most of my free time working in that room during the month and, while I've made some major improvements, it is still not finished. So instead I sewed these squares amidst the rubble of 2 moves in 4 months (in June and October) after my kids were in bed. It's no doctor's note, but does it take away some shame of finishing them on February 1st?

These were so fun to sew. I hope you like them Emily!

(The photographed horribly in the house so I took them outside with a towel and took the pics on my driveway. Classy!)

Why am I so nervous?

I love this pattern. I actually have re-worked a few petals since I took these pictures. They lay flatter now. But the new pictures looked awful. So, here we go.

As a newbie to the group, I was so nervous! (Even after all of my stalking last year.)

Hope you like them, Emily. I had fun.

Bring on February!

Makes Me Happy

I think I'm in love with this simple pattern and colors. It just so happens that I got an area rug for my living room in these same colors (with a little red mixed in). So I will be coping this idea and making me a bright pretty petal quilt for myself. Thanks Emily (hope you don't mind)!
See how nice it would go

color on a dreary day

I had so much fun mixing and matching colors and fabrics for these squares.
I hope you like what I chose, Emily!

ps-I'm thoroughly enjoying how busy our blog is getting again. I'm loving seeing all of your posts!

To: Em Love, Jen

Em,
These squares gave me an excuse to go back to my favorite quilt shop in OKC.
(Quiltworks, if you are curious.)
The following pictures are a great example of how much lighting changes in just 30 minutes.
Trust me, they look much better in person.
I hope they work well in your quilt.
Love ya,
Jen

camie's petal block

These are for you Emily and they're on their way.  Super fun to make.  Honestly, it's more agonizing making squares for others than I thought.  I keep looking at Becca's perfect seams and fabrics...
