Hello!!! Is anyone out there??? I can hear crickets chirping here on our blog. ;)
Here are my disappearing 9 patch squares for Emolyn...
I finished a few things in the last few months...
I did a swoon friendship swap with friends here in Logan and gave it to my daughter, Vivian, for her birthday. I love it!
A hexagon pillow inspired by this wall hanging.
My Christmas houndstooth quilt - thanks everyone! I love how it turned out.
My husband asked for a quilt for Christmas. So I made a Sasquatch quilt for him since he's on the hairy side. :)
Happy Spring everyone! Let's see your projects!

Keeping Cool with Christmas
It has been kind of hot and muggy here the past couple of days, and no air conditioning. boohoo! So I kept cool by sewing up these fun houndstooth squares for Emily. Such beautiful fabrics and such an easy pattern with a big wow effect. This quilt is really going to be fun to see all finished up.

Christmas Houndstooth for August
Let's just keep this Christmas theme going, shall we?
I've always loved this Houndstooth quilt design:
I found some great Christmas charm squares (Juniper Berry by Moda) and I'm so excited to make my first holiday quilt!
You'll get fabric in the mail: 8 print charms and 8 solid charms. Draw a diagonal line on half of the white charm squares.
Create two half-square-triangles by sewing 1/4" seams on either side of the diagonal line and trimming on the line.
Press seam OPEN (I found this to result in a straighter seam).
TRIM ALL SQUARES (HSTs, one print, and one solid) to 4.5" & arrange as shown:
Sew together. Repeat 3 more times to make 4 squares.
*If you have a directional print, place your diagonal line as follows in order to keep the print going in the same direction!
Thanks! Maybe the weather will cool off soon if we keep making Christmas projects. *fingers crossed*

Raspberry Kisses
I was asked to pick the block for my quilt guild's modern friendship swap this year. It was stressful and hard to narrow it down to one. I picked the Raspberry Kiss block (in the larger 9" size) because it was simple, bright, and lended itself well to swapping. 22 quilters signed up and we each made 44 blocks. This is my finished quilt. Isn't it fun!?
I love it!

Je m'appelle Emily
Bonjour!

I've been in 12squared since 2011. I have been sewing since 1981. Wow... I'm getting old.
I have four kids and I live in Logan, UT. I have also lived in Alabama, Nebraska, Tennessee, Missouri, & Arkansas. I served an LDS mission in Belgium. My degree is in Family & Consumer Sciences. I have worked in a couple costume shops, which is fun. I love making gifts for people (my kids and each of my 10 nieces and nephews have a quilt I made them). I love sewing. I prefer modern fabrics and designs. I also do stained glass. Laughing is my favorite. And eating popcorn. I hope to go on a cruise to Alaska with my husband soon.
I just became a coordinator for Ryan's Case for Smiles, which is a non-profit that gives pillowcases to children in the hospital with life-changing illnesses. I am excited to be a part of it! I'm also the designer for a company called LDS Greats.
Looking forward to sewing with you ladies this year!

Happy New Year, 12squared!!
Welcome to the new year of 12squared!
Welcome new members!
Welcome returning members!
Good Bye (for now) to members who are taking a sabbatical! We hope you will be able to come back in the future.
For now, please continue to check in from time to time and share your current projects and to comment on what you see.
Our 12squared quilters and assigned months for 1216 are:
Camie McCullough-February
Mardie Tobler-April
Amy Charles-June
Emily Sigler-August
Valine Vikari- October
Emolyn Wilson-January 2017
With 6 members right now, we will take 2 months for each square. Camie has chosen a square for February.
She will be posting the information and tutorial very soon. Thank you, Camie!!
Please let me know if your assigned month won't work for you.
As you can see, the main blog itself has not been updated with our new information.
I will get that done when I learn how! I also need to find out how to give the new members access to the blog. But, for now, this should get us started for 2016!
Thank you!
Mardie

Books on the Shelf
square for Amy C
I hope the prints aren't too busy! That last one on the right is my favorite right now.
For the Quilt Guild here, I've been asked to be in charge of the Modern Friendship Quilt. I've chosen Raspberry Kiss! Those who sign up will make a bunch of squares in one color and then swap in March. Fun, huh? Do you have a favorite low-volume neutral?

Scrappy Log Cabin for Camie (& Ribbon Star)
I just finished Camie's square. So fun! I hope many happy picnics are enjoyed on this quilt. We're having perfect picnic weather.
I also finished my Ribbon Star quilt from last year. I love it! My photography isn't great and it has fold lines in it, but I don't have the energy to iron it/take new photos. It is for a dear friend who is having her first daughter in June. Thanks to all who worked on it!
Happy Spring!

Turrets & drawbridges
For Nicole...
I love the precision of paper piecing! I'm sorry that the points don't all line up. I hope it's close enough.

My dearest, ever-forgiving Emily-
I received the extra fabric in the mail on Friday....
I completed your block today. Once completed I noticed yet another slice in the doves. Ugh....(this was from my original screw up, not a new screw up)
So I did what any good friend would do- I picked out just enough for you to replace it. I thought it would be easier than asking you to send me
ONE.MORE.TRIANGLE.
I truly love this square, but I don't think the feelings are mutual. The doves are offended and my hands are tied without a fabric superstore nearby.
I will send extra chocolate.
Can we still be friends? I understand if you say no....
Your (cut-challenged) friend,
