Re-introducing Liz

Hi all!
This is my intro from last year.

Here's what's new:
My Mom joined the group! Hooray!
We just totaled our car just before Christmas and I got my dream car! (see first intro)
We trekked out to Bryant, AR, and enjoyed our favorite pizza of allllll time! (see first intro)
And I did a lot of quilting!
Here are the pinwheels that the 12squared girls made me last year! I love them! They live on my couch and I love refolding it all the time to show off different squares :)
I can't wait to do more quilting this year!
Happy New Year!

Sarah

Hi all!  I'm Sarah and am so excited to be apart of this group!  I get to claim Becca as my cousin who I've always admired.  I've sewn since forever...shirts and dresses for me and tons of dresses for my girls and costumes for my kids but I have yet to make a quilt, so I was so exited (and a little nervous) when Becca called and asked if I would like to be apart of the group.  We are expecting to move this week and my sewing machine has been packed away for the last 3 1/2 months and after picking out some fabric last week i'm itching to unpack it and start up!
I'm a mom of three and love to be active and busy in anything...my recent crafty adventure has been with sugar cookies of all things. :)
I couldn't resist.... Becca is the oldest girl and I'm the one her right :) ..us girls had to stick together in our  mostly boy family :)
Here's my family- husband Trent, son- Carson, red head-Audrey and youngest Jordan
Here's to a great year!

These pictures came out a little brighter than they are in person.  Hopefully, they'll work with your quilt, Emily!

Amy Gardner

I'm Amy. I'm thrilled to start our second year of 12squared! I learned a lot this past year and can say that I have added quilting to my list of creative outlets that make me happy. I love to create. Be it sewing, quilting, cooking, baking, and all things crafty (except glitter...I hate glitter...why oh why does my 8 year old love it?) Life gets busy at my house with 4 kids and a husband who has to spend more time at the hospital than home, but there is always time to make something homemade.

these are for you, em

The lighting is terrible so they colors aren't true but you can get a sense of the patterns, at least.  If something is off or not to your taste, say so!  I aim to please.  Can you tell someone is so excited?!

camie

I'm Camie and I can't wait to get started!  I went fabric shopping for Emily's quilt square today and had a blast.  It has been a while (6 years) since I've immersed myself in quilting but I think I've caught the bug again which is a nice feeling.  Emily is my dear, talented cousin who invited me to participate.  I love everything she has ever made so let's just say that her style is my style too.  I'm not all that creative but I'm a pretty good copycat.  I can't wait to let you inspire me.
I'm a busy mom of four kids ages 9, 6, 4 and 2.  You can find us out and about on excursions or in the kitchen baking up something delicious.  We have a fun time sharing what we create on my blog.

Mardie Tobler

Becca asked the new members to introduce themselves. I am mother of 5 (including Liz), mother-in-law of 4 (including Teriney), grandmother of 9 with more coming this year! I love to garden and I love to quilt and piece. (I am much better at piecing than getting the quilting done!) Anyway, I was a 12Squared "stalker" last year. I found the things that your group did so inspiring. I made almost all of your squares. (Stalker...) So, I am delighted to be part of your group and can't wait to get started.

I thought I would send a picture of what I chose for TradingPieces to do for me. It is a "Scrappy Star". I love it. But without sashing between the squares, it has been a chore to make them uniform enough to sew together. I am working on getting it done this week.

I also loved Becca's rainbow quilt so much I made one of my own! It is on our guest bed. Out with the shabby chic, in with a rainbow of color!

January

well, here we go!

This is what my block looks like:

in this COLOR SCHEME:
Joel Dewberry Heirloom Citrine

(aqua, yellow, & a little orange)

You should be receiving your background fabric, template, and instructions in the mail very soon.  Thought I'd give you a "heads up" so you can start looking for fabric. My style is kinda modern vintage with a playful twist.  I like polka dots, plaids and stripes!

Thanks, ladies!  I can't wait to see your squares!

Liz plays catch up!

Here are my two final squares! I'm caught up so I can start 2012 guilt-free! :)
I found the paper piecing tricky but I love how it turned out!

Here's my square for Teriney.

 I'm excited for 12squared12!

It's a New Year!

12Sqaured 2012!

I loved all the creative goodness the group came up with last year and I learned so much about quilting that I can't wait to see what this year brings.  This time around, we've got some old and new sewsters pursuing quilting awesomeness and I can't wait to get started.  First the nitty gritty business-- getting that out of the way first and then on to the fun stuff...

First off, a reminder to those who have unfinished squares from last year to get them done a.s.a.p. so we can start off with a clean slate!
Second, a quick recap of the group's New Year's resolutions:
1. Be specific in your instructions and style choices when it's your turn to chose the block.
2. The Golden Rule!  Sew each square the way you'd want everyone to sew squares for you.  That may mean purchasing fabric that is in line with the receiver's style, asking questions, and taking care when constructing.
3. Be on time.  To be fair to the other members, try your best to get your squares sent off by the end of the month.
4. More blog posts!  One of the best parts of this blog is seeing what everyone comes up with!  There can never be too many comments!

Did I miss any?

Now on to the fun stuff...  This year's group is comprised of six members from last year and six new.  Not everyone knows each other, so I was thinking how great it would be if everyone could make a brief post introducing themselves and their particular style--  Maybe a couple of swatches of your current fabric faves or a link to a quilt or two that you particularly love.

I will be sending out an email to you all very soon with the schedule and an address list for your records.  To kick off the year, Emily will be doing our January quilt, so look for her tutorial very soon!
